Dr. Byrd is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon that is passionate about serving the Hampton Roads area. Dr. Byrd treats a variety of conditions in her practice including ACL injuries, meniscal tears, cartilage defects, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, fractures, sprains and strains, and more. Dr. Byrd grew up in Virginia Beach where she graduated from Norfolk Academy. She was active in high school soccer, track & field and field hockey as well as Beach FC soccer. She went to college at Princeton University where she majored in Economics and ran Track and Field, competing in the Heptathlon, open long jump, and hurdles, and captaining the team her senior year. Before beginning her medical education, Dr. Byrd worked as a business consultant for firms in New York and Richmond. She then earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She completed her Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Byrd then completed an additional year of fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine for advanced training in arthroscopic surgery and serving as a team physician. While at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Byrd served as a team physician for two local colleges, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Indians. As team physician, she gained extensive experience with the surgical and non-surgical management of sports injuries and caring for injured athletes of all abilities.

Specializing in Sports Medicine, Dr. Byrd has extensive knowledge regarding injuries athletes can face during their athletic pursuits in competitive, recreational and weekend warrior activities. She believes an individualized treatment plan is imperative to the care of the whole athlete/patient. Dr. Byrd will walk you through all of your treatment options and most importantly, help you get back to the activities you love.

Jennifer is married to Timothy Paice and together they have 3 children, big sister Charlotte and twins, Audrey and Henry as well as a standard poodle, Soufflé. They enjoy getting out on the water, being in nature, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
